How to keep track of a few things...

Howdy one and all. I often ask people to follow certain websites / blogs etc in order to keep up to date with useful bits of learning.

To the left in the side bar are some useful sites, which I thoroughly recommend people follow. In particular, the About Spanish grammar will really help you to link all your new words together. One way to follow new updates is to use Google Reader- and hopefully the video above will help to set up the service.

Simply copy and paste the web address into the "Add subscription" bar on the left of your free account and it'll do all the work for you!

Grammar revision-oh what joy!

As we return for the new academic year, so we immediately turn our thoughts to the dreaded exams which approach in May next year. Sounds a long way off, but actually, alas, it'll fly past!

So, to accompany the work that year 11've been doing in preparing for the oral exam, now it's time to really refresh and add to your grammatical knowledge.

A fantastic new way to remember the present tense

I think I've finally found a Spanish teacher who's even crazier than me, guys. These 2 videos are simply amazing for  learning / revising the present tense, but not in the way you're used to...

Also, for the first time, the Edgehill Grammar series podcast series came first in the charts of the jellycast podcast provider- a very flattering achievement!!

Year 10 had the brief of writing a script for, and then recording a podcast, as if they were describing the formation of the future tense to a year 4/5 group. How've they done? Feel free to add a comment!!

Here are the latest podcasts... on the conditional and the perfect tenses. However, watch this space because hopefully there will also soon be podcasts on the imperfect, pluperfect and imperfect subjunctive. Wow, what a lot of work!!

By the way, there have so far been a total of 3867 downloads of the podcasts, from www.jellycast.com alone!! And i-tunes has us down as a very popular download, so... Pretty cool, eh?!

i-tunes

Edgehill College has now hit i-tunes!

It is now possible to download 2 series of podcasts from i-tunes based on work done at Edgehill. The first is a series of Spanish grammar podcasts, which will be regularly updated from now on. The second is actually in French, not Spanish, and features members of Year 11 talking about Healthy Living- in French. Definitely worth a listen.

So how do you get hold of these I hear you cry! Well, if you access i-tunes store, simply search for Edgehill, and both the grammar series and EdgehillCast will come up. And yes, they are free. However, if you don't have an i-pod, don't worry, nor do I, you don't need one to listen to these. i-tunes is free to download, and anything you download can be played on your computer.

As far as I can tell, we are only the 4th school in Britain to be uploading MFL work onto i-tunes, so be proud of yourselves. And if you think this doesn't affect you, that it'll only be for Year 11, think again- it could be you sometime soon!

Present tense podcasts

Another new strand of the Spanish blog is that we're going to investigate the world of podcasts- meaning that from time to time I'll be adding files which you can download and save either on your computer or even onto ipods or mobiles.

In this case, I've put together 3 podcasts to help learn the regular present tense in Spanish- which most people think is one of the hardest tenses. Fortunately, though, there are ways to remember it all. So have a listen, (go through in the order they're in here, ar, er then ir) and tell me what you think- are they useful? And if so, what else would it be useful to have podcasts of?
