Having recently practised hard at erecting tents, and begun to look into the use of our cooking facilities, it is time to face the North Devon
winter with confidence. As such, on Saturday 17th we will be camping near Bucks Mills, and then walking back to school the following morning. This is a tough challenge, as the walk will be of an arduous nature, whilst the camp may well be undertaken in both cold and wet conditions- good preparation for the harsh nature of Dartmoor
.
For this training event, participants are expected to have with them 2 sets of clothing, full waterproofs, sturdy walking boots, 2 water bottles (preferably not thin plastic), sleeping bag, sleeping mat, gloves and hat. In terms of cooking, they will need a mug, cutlery and matches. All of these details, along with all other future notes, can also be found at; http://edgehillcollege.typepad.com/ten_tors/
We will be leaving school at 6.30pm on the Saturday, and will hopefully have returned there by 2.00pm, although unfortunately this can only be a guideline. All pupils will need to bring with them food for dinner, breakfast and lunch. I will be giving them recommendations, which will also be available on the blog.
